Welcome to the Maine Clammers Association (MCA) website! The MCA was founded by Maine’s wild clammers first and foremost to maintain and improve the quality of Maine’s tidal and ocean waters. The MCA will achieve this goal through public education, by efforts to address water pollution, including pollution from sources such as sewage and storm water, and by encouraging shellfish harvesters to act as stewards of the ocean. The Association was also formed to encourage the enactment of wise and uniform state and federal legislation relating to the shellfish industry and to oppose the enactment of unwise legislation that might tend to burden the industry and fail to protect consumers of shellfish. The MCA’s Board of Directors have already demonstrated a commitment to working hard and in getting things done for the shellfish industry in Augusta. We are a registered 501(c)3 non-profit organization. Please take a moment to take a look at our by-laws. Want to join? Follow the link on the left to become a member. You don't have to be a clammer to share our goal of protecting some of Maine's most precious natural resources.
